Case Study: SCALING WITHOUT INCREASING COSTS
Scaling. A magical word for any business. It's what takes your business from a hobby to a full-fledged money-making asset. Scaling is often-times viewed as the hardest step for most businesses to take. It's difficult, a real chicken before the egg scenario. Do you grow your team and then grow your business? Do you grow your business volume before growing your team?
One of our clients is a startup dating app in the fitness space. They approached us to help them with their TikTok ad efforts. They were seeing some success on the platform but felt restricted by their ads manager that was running the account.
Not only have we helped them scale up, we helped them do it without sacrificing the costs. Scroll down to read more on how and what we did to achieve this.
THE CLIENT
Being in the app space is difficult. Being a startup is super tough. Being in the app dating space is even more of a challenge. There are massive brands with tons of capital and very large teams in the space. But that doesn't mean there isn't room for niched apps like DateFit.
DateFit is a dating app built specifically for fitness lovers. They have a dating side and a friends side so users can find their gym bae or their gym buddy. One thing I know for certain is that if somebody is a fitness enthusiast, they want to connect with fellow fitness enthusiasts.
our approach
With an already-existing TikTok ad effort running, our job was to come in and make impacts that would be felt long-term. It wasn't that the current ads manager was doing a poor job overall, the CPAs were in a good spot and the organization of the account was ok. But there were a few glaring issues.
1) Auditing the Account - The first thing we noticed was that tracking was off. It wasn't properly syncing to their app analytics program. We immediately fixed that up. We also discovered several underperforming creatives that were bringing the overall costs on the account way up. Those had to go.
2) A Better System - This account relies heavily on influencer efforts on the platform. Poorly-tracked influencer Spark codes and no real guide for the influencers led to a lot of inconsistency and some videos that were just completely unusable. We worked quickly to get a better system in place.
3) Launch & Scale - There's that word again. Scaling. Once we got our new campaigns built we immediately got to work on scaling up the account. We pushed the account hard and scaled up 25% every 7 days. The results? Read about them below 🤝
WHAT WE ACHIEVED
RESULTS
We have taken the account from spending $50-$75/day to spending over $300/day while keeping the cost per acquisition under $1.
Their overall download volume has increased as well. For instance, in April of 2022 they averaged 350 downloads per day. In June they averaged 450 downloads per day.
More volume, more downloads and more premium sign ups at the same CPA as before. That is effectively scaling an ad account on TikTok.
